Beth Schafer and Joe Black Beth Schafer re-defines Jewish music with refreshing insight, masterful songwriting, and liturgical sensitivity. Winner of the 2006 American Idol Underground faith-based competition, Beth’s music is a contemporary, relevant extension of Jewish culture for a growing interfaith community. Her rhythmic musicality and joyful approach connects congregants to one another and to God in thoughtful, exhilarating ways. Joe Black is a CAJE “Vatik.” One of the most popular Jewish contemporary artists in the United States, his recordings have received accolades from sources as diverse as The New York Times, Haddasah Magazine, Parent’s Choice, The American Library Journal and Kids First: The Coalition for Quality Children’s Video. His compositions has been recorded by numerous artists and he and his music are featured in a variety of Contemporary Jewish Music compilation CD’s. Joe is known for his guitar virtuosity, soaring voice and lyrics that are at the same time, funny, inspirational and thought provoking. His music is an extension of his Rabbinate. He is Senior Rabbi of Congregation Albert in Albuquerque, New Mexico - a position he has held since August of 1996.
