Guy Mendilow and Sam Glaser Israeli composer Guy Mendilow and his quintet transport audiences on a vibrant journey to Mendilow's homes in Israel, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico and the US through inventive arrangements and wildly creative instrumentation. Ancient Sephardi romanceros blend with pulsing Brazilian rhythms, Hebrew inflections and Mendilow's award-winning overtone singing. The bridge-building quintet translates old Jewish themes to modern global audiences, performing in six languages and on nineteen instruments including electrified berimbau, driving percussion and jaw harps that would make beat-boxers jaws' drop. Sam Glaser tours internationally as a performer, composer, educator and cantorial soloist. His recordings include ""Nigun,"" ""Presence,"" ""The Bridge,"" ""Kol Bamidbar,"" ""Across the River,"" ""A Day in the Life"" and ""Hineni."" Sam received a BS in Business and Music from the University of Colorado, as well as having attended Berkelee College of Music and the UCLA Film Scoring Program. He has served as Executive Director of the Jewish Music Commission, Music Coordinator for the University of Judaism, Producer of the American Jewish Song Festival and Musical Director of the Brandeis-Bardin Institute.
