Helene Kates (of the Baal Shem Tones) is a touring singer/songwriter of both Jewish and Folk Americana music. She recieved a B.A. in Performing Arts, Creative Dramatics and an Elementary Education Certification from Beloit College. She has worked as both a classroom teacher and educational specialist, offering a wide variety of workshops in music, movement, creative dramatics, meditation and healing for all ages. In addition to teaching, Helene also tours with The Baal Shem Tones and is currently in production on spiritually driven folk/pop album with her new duo Helene and Michael Kates. Next project on the docket is a childrens album, a compilation of original songs written in the classroom.
